Carrera benefits from Parkinson’s therapy at The Westchester House

Charlotte Carrera, a long-term resident at The Westchester House in Chesterfield, Missouri, was experiencing a functional decline due to Parkinson’s disease when therapy helped turn her life around.

Carrera began rehabilitation on Sept. 27, 2017, to increase her independence and keep her Parkinson’s symptoms at bay....

Mary Schulte broke her left leg after falling, and following surgery, she came to The Westchester House in Chesterfield, Missouri, on July 13, 2017.

When Schulte arrived, she was unable to put weight on her left leg while it healed, and she needed assistance with her bed mobility and transfers from one surface to another....

Doug Steinmetz came to The Westchester House in Chesterfield, Missouri, on June 20, 2017, after being treated at the hospital for anemia and acute osteomyelitis, a bone infection.

When he arrived, Steinmetz required total assistance for his bed mobility and getting around, as well as for his self-care. He was weak and experiencing a decline in cognition....

 Kohlschreiber had a right leg laceration prohibiting her from completing many daily tasks. Her rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis also contributed to her need of assistance...

After having a total hip replacement surgery, Moritz came to The Westchester House in Chesterfield, Missouri, for rehabilitation. When she arrived on April 28, 2017, she could not take care of herself and required extensive assistance with bathing and getting dressed....

Osteoporosis led June Brueggemann to need a right total hip replacement in early 2017.

Following the surgery, Brueggemann came to The Westchester House in Chesterfield, Missouri, on March 9. She needed moderate assistance for bathing and getting dressed from the waist down and stand-by assistance with grooming and getting dressed from the waist up. She also needed some help with critical thinking skills like managing finances....

Brandon Aldan was born with paramyotonia congenita, a genetic disorder that causes muscle stiffness, especially in cold temperatures.

Due to the paramyotonia congenita, Aldan experienced rhabdomyolysis in January 2017, a condition in which skeletal muscles break down and damage the kidneys....

After Lorraine Gessler fell and fractured her right femur, she needed rehabilitation before she could return to her home in Ballwin, Missouri.
